More Summer Fun

More Mitchell costumes.

The kids had kids over for night games Friday night and Emily had a sleepover. It was fun hearing them count and squeal outside. Got to get all the last bits of happy out of the summer while you can!

Here is Josh and Mitchell and their reverent-est during scripture study. :)

Hip Hop Recital

After a summer of hip hop classes Emily was ready to show us her moves. But first we had to wait in the parking lot for an hour. I had the foresight to park by an island of bushes and a tree. We looked out at the bushes and noticed what seemed to be small grizzly looking pine cones. When we looked closer we noticed the were twitching, and there was a strange snap, crackle and pop sound. The tree about had weird web strings holding more pin cones to the branches. These were no pine cones. When we got out of the car we learned they were cicada chrysalises. Truly, truly, truly disgusting. Click on the pictures to make them larger and you will see just how disgusting they are. There were hundreds of them hanging from the bushes. The boys loved it.

Emily can really dance. She is improving quickly. Her recital was themed as cheerleader/ballerinas who thought the football player hip-hoppers were stupid, but all end up friends dancing the night away. It was cute.

Play group

We have had UNBELIEVABLE weather this week (okay, most of the week.) We played with friends at the park on Thursday. The kids loved laying down in the middle of the baseball field and screaming as loud as they could. Fun.

Just as we were leaving Emily lost her sunglasses. We had been running all around a huge baseball field. All of us scoured the grass to no avail. Teri suggested we say a prayer which Emily then offered. As soon as I opened my eyes and turned around, there they were not two feet away from my feet. It was a great lesson for our kids. Prayers are answered people.

Here Emily is with her friend Jaden.

Ninja

So, the missionaries just left. (We have spent a lot of time with them this week). As Pete was tucking Mitchell into bed he asked him if he liked having the missionaries over. Mitchell replied, "Yes, but I like Ninjas better."

NEW ROOF

WAHOO, WAHOO, WAHOO!!!!!!! Yes we have a new roof. This has been a real testimony builder for Pete and me. We will call it the "lesson of the roof", and file it with other lessons like our "lesson of the fish tank". Isn't it gorgeous? It rained all day tonight and it felt so sweet.

We had a team of Amish young men and teenagers put it up. It took them from 7:00am to 7:30pm. Unbelievably fast. They did an awesome job, and we didn't hear one swear word, or word of discord. It was a pleasure.

It felt like I was inside a popcorn popper all day, and the house shook in all directions. Often it was pretty scary, but beside a mishap with our skylight all is well. WHAT A BLESSING!!!! Prayers are answered people.

Crazy Storm

We had a crazy storm the other night. It came in really fast on Tuesday night turning the sky a bright yellow. The pictures are not depicting the weirdness of it. I felt like we were swimming in a snow globe of urin the yellow was so thick all around us. (Sorry, gross.) How about dark, thick yellow lemonade? It passed fairly quickly, but I had never experienced anything like it before.

My latest cards

I wanted to post some of my cards because I am giving them away, and I want to still remember and enjoy them. Lara E., do you recognized any of the papers?

Does anyone know why vertical shots post horizonally?
